This Strawberry Chocolate Dump Cake is the ultimate easy dessert. With a juicy strawberry base, a layer of chocolate cake mix, and a buttery, crumbly topping, it bakes into a warm, comforting treat that requires minimal effort and is always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (21 oz) can strawberry pie filling
  • 1 (15.25 oz) box chocolate fudge cake mix (dry, not prepared)
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional for serving: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly in the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the strawberry layer. Do not stir. Gently spread it into a level layer.
  4. Distribute the thin pats of butter evenly over the entire surface of the dry cake mix.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown, the edges are bubbly, and the center is set.
  7. Let the cake cool for 15-20 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Do not stir the layers. Letting the cake cool slightly before serving allows the filling to thicken. For a fresh twist, use 3 cups chopped fresh strawberries tossed with 1/4 cup sugar and 2 tbsp cornstarch instead of pie filling.
