A festive, no-cook snack perfect for summer gatherings. These simple skewers feature a red, white, and blue pattern of strawberries, watermelon, and blueberries. They are a healthy, kid-friendly treat that assembles in minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 small seedless watermelon
  • 1 pint fresh blueberries
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries
  • Bamboo skewers (6-inch or 12-inch)

Instructions

  1. Wash all berries thoroughly and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel.
  2. Hull the strawberries and slice them in half from top to bottom to create a flat surface.
  3. Slice a 2-inch thick round from the center of the watermelon. Cut away the rind and cube the red flesh into 1-inch pieces.
  4. Thread one strawberry half onto a skewer, cut side facing you.
  5. Add one cube of watermelon to the skewer.
  6. Finish by adding 2-3 blueberries to the end of the skewer.
  7. Repeat the strawberry, watermelon, blueberry pattern until the skewer is full or you have used all your fruit.
  8. Serve immediately or arrange on a platter, cover loosely, and refrigerate for up to 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure fruit is completely dry before assembling and use ripe, in-season produce. Assemble close to serving time for optimal texture. Skewers can be deconstructed for very young children.
