Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb hot sausage
  • 1 lb cheese sausage (like kielbasa)
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese blend
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cups baking mix
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Assorted crackers, baguette slices, and tortilla chips for serving

Instructions

  1. DAY BEFORE: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the hot sausage until browned. Drain and let cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, cream cheese, 1 cup of the shredded cheese, baking mix, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and refrigerate.
  4. For the fresh element, combine the diced cherry tomatoes and chopped basil in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper, cover, and refrigerate.
  5. For the kielbasa bites, slice the cheese sausage at 1/4-inch intervals, being careful not to cut all the way through. Place in a baking dish, cover, and refrigerate.
  6. DAY OF PARTY: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the sausage balls for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  7. While sausage balls bake, prepare the kielbasa bites. Brush with mustard or your favorite glaze and bake for 15-20 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy.
  8. Arrange serving platters. Place the tomato basil mixture in a bowl with a spoon for bruschetta.
  9. Warm any dips (like a prepared hot corn dip) according to their recipe instructions.
  10. Set out the baked appetizers, fresh components, and an abundance of dippers like crackers and chips. Serve immediately and enjoy your party.

Notes

Stagger bringing out hot items to keep the spread fresh. All components can be prepped 1-2 days in advance. Unbaked sausage balls freeze well for future parties.
