This Green Sprinkle Popcorn is a sweet, crunchy, and wildly festive treat perfect for celebrations or a fun snack. It transforms plain popcorn with a simple green candy coating and a shower of colorful sprinkles. Ready in minutes, it's an easy project that's as fun to make as it is to eat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups plain popped popcorn (about 1/2 cup unpopped kernels)
  • 1 cup green candy melts or white chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup green sprinkles (jimmies or nonpareils)
  • 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread the popped popcorn evenly on it, removing any unpopped kernels.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the green candy melts (or white chocolate chips) and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring well after each, until completely smooth and fluid.
  3. Drizzle the melted coating over the popcorn in a zig-zag pattern. Using clean hands or two large spoons, gently toss and fold until the popcorn is lightly and evenly coated.
  4. Immediately sprinkle the green sprinkles and optional flaky salt over the wet popcorn. Toss gently again to distribute.
  5. Let the popcorn sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes, or until the coating has fully hardened. Break up any large clusters and serve.

Notes

Use plain popcorn, not pre-buttered, for best results. Have sprinkles ready before melting coating to add while it's still wet. For variations, add mint extract to the coating or mix in pretzels after setting.
