These elegant pizza roses are a simple yet impressive Valentine's Day treat. They combine the beloved flavors of pizza with a beautiful, rose-like shape, perfect for a cozy homemade dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound store-bought pizza dough
  • 1 cup marinara or pizza sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 30-40 slices pepperoni or salami
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Let pizza dough rest at room temperature for 20 minutes. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
  2. On a floured surface, roll dough into a 12x16 inch rectangle, about 1/8-inch thick.
  3. Spread marinara sauce evenly over dough, leaving a small bare border along one long edge. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  4. Layer mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over sauce. Arrange pepperoni slices in overlapping rows to cover most of dough.
  5. Starting from the long edge opposite the bare border, tightly roll dough into a log. Pinch seam to seal.
  6. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice log into 1-inch rounds (about 10-12).
  7. Place each round, spiral-side up, into prepared muffin tin cups. Brush tops with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until dough is golden and cheese is bubbly. Let rest in tin for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For best results, ensure dough is at room temperature before rolling. Do not overfill. A muffin tin is essential for maintaining the rose shape. Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for up to 4 hours before baking.
