These chocolate dipped pretzel rods are the ultimate sweet and salty snack. They are a no-bake, easy project perfect for homemade gifts or holiday treats like St. Patrick's Day. Simple ingredients create a satisfying crunch with creamy chocolate.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 9-ounce bag pretzel rods
  • 12 ounces high-quality chocolate chips or chopped baking bars (semi-sweet, dark, milk, or white)
  • Assorted toppings such as sprinkles, crushed candy, chopped nuts, or flaky sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon refined coconut oil or vegetable shortening (optional, for smoother chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment or wax paper. Place toppings in shallow bowls or plates for easy access.
  2. Place chocolate and optional coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring vigorously between each burst, until chocolate is completely smooth and fluid. Do not overheat.
  3. Hold a pretzel rod at one end and dip about three-quarters of it into the melted chocolate. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl for a few seconds.
  4. While the chocolate is still wet, immediately roll or sprinkle the dipped portion with your chosen toppings.
  5. Place the finished rod on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  6. Place the entire baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely firm. Serve or store as desired.

Notes

For best results, use fresh pretzels and do not rush melting the chocolate. Toppings must be applied immediately after dipping. Store in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 5 days, or refrigerate for longer storage.
