This is the ultimate crowd-pleasing party appetizer. It features a velvety, creamy base with tangy buffalo sauce and tender chicken, all baked until golden and bubbly. Simple ingredients create a legendary dip that disappears fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 1 lb, rotisserie chicken recommended)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup Frank's RedHot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack), divided
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch baking dish or oven-safe skillet.
  2. In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, ranch dressing, and sour cream together until completely smooth and lump-free.
  3. In a separate small bowl, whisk the melted butter and Frank's RedHot Sauce together until fully emulsified and glossy.
  4. Pour the buffalo sauce mixture into the creamy base. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika (if using). Mix well.
  5. Fold in the shredded chicken and 1 cup of the shredded cheese blend. Stir until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Smooth the top and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the dip is bubbling around the edges and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let the dip rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow it to set slightly for perfect scooping.

Notes

For a smooth dip, ensure cream cheese is fully softened. Emulsifying the butter and hot sauce is key for even flavor. Let dip rest after baking for best texture. Can be assembled a day ahead and refrigerated before baking.
